The Municipal Gardens are in the heart of Funchal and provides a welcome respite from the bustle of the city. I found myself there most days, enjoying the shade provided by the trees. In such a small spaces there is such a wide variety of botanical species characteristic of the flora of Madeira and other places in the world.

My name is Sam, I'm a printmaker working from my studio in rural Northamptonshire. I moved back to the countryside after living in London for 22 years and I now enjoying the fresh air, open skies and wildlife of my life in the country. Miss Marple my ever faithful mini dachshund loves it too!
